I Am Thou

It had been some time since Yua's adventure into the First, now with the land trying to find a way to rebuild after the return of the night sky. Perhaps it was because of it, she has a new appreciation of the beauty of the stars, the color of the skies when the light vanishes for the time. And Yua has been wandering more around Eorzea during the night taking in the sights.

It's when she is around Mor Dhona that during one of her trips, there is something that catches her eye: a very large tentacled creature slithering around like a serpent with a gaping jaw.

"That's odd, I haven't heard of a Hunt Mark like that one-" She stops in mid sentence because the voidsent doesn't even bother to take notice of her but rather a figure lying on the ground. She can't tell who it is from where she is standing but that does not mean the viera woman will simply stand there. Unhooking her chakrams from her belt, she dashes forward and throws them at the monster's eyes.

"Hey Ugly! Over here!"

Yua couldn't think of a snappier comeback, there's more important things like making sure that guy who is lying there doesn't get hurt.

"Who on earth would even be out here around something like this?"

"Hey, I've seen people slip and fall into the water right at the first jump. You know, the same people who gloat and say that they'll reach the top only to eat shit two seconds later?"

It's always amusing in hindsight. Besides, they can always push Emet to try it.

"Yes, but that's simply them gettin' what's coming to them. I get perhaps a third of the way before it all goes to pot."

"That might be so but you said so yourself about being able to climb everything else. So if anything, you can laugh at people being dumb on it."

And then Yua points at Emet. "Or watch him do it."

Rhel cracks up at the suggestion while Emet-Selch just gives Yua a Look.

"No," is all he says. "No."

"Oh come on, won't know until you try."

More than likely it's going to happen. Somehow because the higher powers love to be assholes.

"You took my measurements," he points out. "You know the state of my back."

"So, you're not up for a challenge, then?"

If she was expecting that to goad him...

"No, I'm not. I dislike the beach on principle, anyway."

"Have you...ever been to one, by any chance?"

A Look. "I lived among mortals many times. Of course I've been to a beach. Why else would I hate them so?"

Rhel snorts. "He burns," she declares. "Man that pasty? He burns worse than the twins."

"Ohhh so that explains it." Yua grins. "Good thing that I prepared for that." she gestures to the new wardrobe. "There's actually a decent swimwear set that should do the trick."

Utterly unamused that Rhel pegged him so quickly, Emet-Selch just shakes his head at Yua's comment. "I won't be needing it."

"If you think you are going to stay here while the two of us are out, you are sorely mistaken." Yua replies, folding her arms.

"Oh, we could just get that husband of Aymeric's to mind him for a bit," Rhel comments. "He's apparently in the area on business and he loathes the sun just as much as Emet here."

Yua is about to voice her concern but then remembers a little bit about the man in question. Tapping her finger to her chin, the gears in her head turning, she has an idea why Rhel mentioned him...and smiles.

"Well, if he is alright with it. And hopefully we wouldn't taking anytime away from him wanting to spend time with Aymeric. I've seen how lovey dovey those two can be even in public."

That smile unsettles Emet-Selch, and Rhel can tell. So naturally she smiles back.

"Aymeric's still in Isghard. It's much harder for him to get time to come this far south."

"Poor man." Alas, the woes of being a public figure. "So, let's call Leo and see if he's interested in meeting another nerd. I bet he'd be happy with a debate or two."

And maybe some other things.

"You've got him on your linkshell, I don't." So Rhel stands, gathering up the dishes. "I should, but I keep forgetting."

Yua nods then stands up, giving a thumbs up. "Ah, right. I'll go call him up while I get changed. Pretty sure he'll say yes." And she does go into the bedroom to grab a decent swimsuit but she contacts Leo quickly in the process. Yua is sure to tell him about why she's asking for this favor and how it can benefit him as well in more ways than one...including a free 'volunteer' for the one test she knows might help. Sorry Emet but you brought this on yourself.

A few minutes later, Yua comes out, all prepared. "He's on his way!"

(Leo is forever thankful.)

"Wonderful. You stay here with him until then, I've got to run to Shirogane and find where I left my sun cream. And parasol. And those tinted glasses. Honestly, why haven't I just left all of that here at your house?"

"That is a shocker; you spend as much time here as in Shirogane that it wouldn't surprise me if you did leave things here."

"And unlike here, Shirogane's beach is much kinder on my pasty arse," she mutters. "Perhaps I'll start doing that. Either way, be back shortly." And with a pop, she teleports away.

Emet-Selch just looks at Yua. "So who are you inflicting upon me and are they half as nutty as the two of you?"

Yua simply shrugs and grins. "Relax, Leo is Aymeric's husband and is very much someone who likes to learn everything. I'm pretty sure the two of you will have fun with all the debating and magical learning that consists of no sun activities."

Look, Yua could add in a joke but when she told Aymeric that in private, he replied with 'How do you think I realized that?'

"That or we'll loathe each other so completely you'll come back to your house little more than rubble."

"Look, I have some faith that the place will stay intact."
