I Am Thou

It had been some time since Yua's adventure into the First, now with the land trying to find a way to rebuild after the return of the night sky. Perhaps it was because of it, she has a new appreciation of the beauty of the stars, the color of the skies when the light vanishes for the time. And Yua has been wandering more around Eorzea during the night taking in the sights.

It's when she is around Mor Dhona that during one of her trips, there is something that catches her eye: a very large tentacled creature slithering around like a serpent with a gaping jaw.

"That's odd, I haven't heard of a Hunt Mark like that one-" She stops in mid sentence because the voidsent doesn't even bother to take notice of her but rather a figure lying on the ground. She can't tell who it is from where she is standing but that does not mean the viera woman will simply stand there. Unhooking her chakrams from her belt, she dashes forward and throws them at the monster's eyes.

"Hey Ugly! Over here!"

Yua couldn't think of a snappier comeback, there's more important things like making sure that guy who is lying there doesn't get hurt.

"Who on earth would even be out here around something like this?"

"So you have been in love then?"

"Enough to sire children." And before, but she didn't ask about that and he won't offer that information.

"What were they like?" Yua didn't even think about during the time of Amaurot when she asked. It feels like a trigger and sure she has questions and possible theories but she's terrified that they're correct.

"Surely they meant a lot to you if they caught your attention."

Emet shrugs, not really wanting to think about his past loves. He might say something he regrets.

"Intelligent. Good looking for the most part. Resilient."

"Sounds like the type you'd go for." It's said with a genuine smile.

"They were the most tolerable sort of mortals. The others tended to be too easily overwhelmed."

"Can't blame them considering who you are without knowing your ascian part." Yua shrugs and leans into her pillow.

"Seems like even you has a heart under all that darkness."

"Didn't I establish that back on the First?"

"Yes but it was rather hard with all the backseat commentary by the other Scions."

To be fair, Yua added on Thancred's ivory standard line with 'Pretty sure that's a kink for him' back then. No regrets.

"I mean, better than the last ones I interacted with. You actually taught me things."

Emet snorts. "Lahabrea was half-mad with grief and loneliness, Igeyhorm was a snob, and Elidibus is vague as ever. You haven't interacted with the best of us."

So that would explain why Lahabrea took over Thancred's body years ago; birds of a feather it seems.

Now it's Yua's turn to scoff. "Oh come on, don't put yourself down like that."

A Look.

"You know what I meant."

"Do I now?"

He can tell she's being cheeky because she knows.

Another Look.

"Rest, or perhaps I'll call that black mage back for a talk..."

"Fine fine but it would probably be more ways to make you uncomfortable. You better do the same otherwise I'm calling Krile." Yua yawns, finally feeling tired enough to drift off into dreamless slumber.

It did take a few days before Yua was declared well enough to leave the Rising Stones. So along with her new ascian charge, they head back to Yua's small house in the La Noscean area of Mist. Now for the Warrior of Light and Darkness it should be the most elegant and biggest in the district...but it's tucked away from the beach in a corner but the view is still nice depending on who you ask.

The house itself is lived in; meaning that while clean, it's clear that someone lives here with mail and paperwork involving commissions and missives from a 'Dutiful Sisters' buried along with a list tacted on the wall reading 'Books to Grab from the Gubal Library'. Speaking of books, there's quite a few bookshelves filled with many tomes and types. One can barely tell there's charms involving light aether and to ensure any ascians around that their powers will not have effect.

But when Yua said she didn't have time for much, she meant it. Right after getting Emet settled in (and holding her rights to the only bed), she was bombarded with requests and work orders. Alas, when you admit that you cam craft and gather, people want what you can give. Somehow she could balance it all without much complaint and ensure both residents did care for themselves. You know, the basic things like eating, sleeping, and bathing.

One of those Yua does not do well...and she uses it to her advantage.

On the day of the start of Moonfire, Emet may notice something new in the house: a rather large wardrobe stuffed to the brim with all sorts of clothing that would fit him as well as glamour prisms to help with the garlean eye.

As for Yua...she is currently face down in her pillows, snoozing away after all that work.

(Emet knows the moment he enters the house that there's charms. He hasn't bothered to tell anyone that he can't use aether like he used to. If they want to waste time, let them.)

It's annoying being nagged at by Yua, but Emet does benefit from it. The swelling in his arm goes down quickly and he regains a lot of his energy between the regular meals and the required rest. It's...nice, almost. Almost.

When he wakes up on the day of that festival Yua kept talking about, he almost doesn't see the wardrobe right away. The glint of the glamour prisms is what draws his attention and by the time Yua wakes up, he's digging through the wardobe with interest.

When she does finally arise from slumber, it's with a jolt as Yua mutters if she slept all day. In reality, it has only a few hours by way of the clock ticking on her bedroom wall. But she does hear shuffling and opening of doors, making her way out of bed and peeking out the door.

'Oh, he's noticed it.' She thinks with a smile. 'He might be mad about the frog suit but everything else should work.'

As soon as she thinks that, he finds the frog head.

And towards the (unlit) fireplace does the frog head and suit go.

"Frog. Really? Not even those talking catfish?"

Well, thankfully the fireplace wasn't lit.

"Actually," Yua finally speaks up. "I do own a Namazu head and it would be hard to tell the two apart."

It's actually on the top of her wardrobe. Always watching.

The only reason he doesn't jump is because his head was in the wardrobe and that would have hurt. Still, he's obviously startled.

"Is that what they're called?"

Oops.

"Yes yes." She replies with a chuckle. "They try their best despite being rather dimwitted at times but I can't help but admire them for being determined." Yua is not sorry for that line at all, she will go to bat for those dumb catfish. But she's taking note of how invested he is looking in the wardrobe, so far so good.

"What do you think?"

"Some of this had to be expensive to order. Who bought it all?"

"Only if you don't know where to look and you are unable to make it." She can't help but grin.

"Thankfully, I can."

Emet pauses and steps out of the wardrobe to stare at Yua.

"You made all of this?"

Yua simply nods. "That I did. I figured that you needed more than that ratty robe since you're going to be here for awhile. That and it's the best way to blend in around here."

Okay, she probably went over and beyond for this but honestly, she really couldn't simply buy things when she was so used to making them.
