I Am Thou

It had been some time since Yua's adventure into the First, now with the land trying to find a way to rebuild after the return of the night sky. Perhaps it was because of it, she has a new appreciation of the beauty of the stars, the color of the skies when the light vanishes for the time. And Yua has been wandering more around Eorzea during the night taking in the sights.

It's when she is around Mor Dhona that during one of her trips, there is something that catches her eye: a very large tentacled creature slithering around like a serpent with a gaping jaw.

"That's odd, I haven't heard of a Hunt Mark like that one-" She stops in mid sentence because the voidsent doesn't even bother to take notice of her but rather a figure lying on the ground. She can't tell who it is from where she is standing but that does not mean the viera woman will simply stand there. Unhooking her chakrams from her belt, she dashes forward and throws them at the monster's eyes.

"Hey Ugly! Over here!"

Yua couldn't think of a snappier comeback, there's more important things like making sure that guy who is lying there doesn't get hurt.

"Who on earth would even be out here around something like this?"

Yua's eyes widen, her mind immediately coming up with ways to respond to that line. 'Have you been stalking me?' or 'Please don't say you and Lahabrea decided to watch me sleep one night' but finding the right words to say and not look like an absolute asshole in this situation won't look good for her. In other words: Yua is trying not to snark back and properly use her words for good this time around. The tension in the room is already thick enough to cut with a butter knife.

"It's true though. I don't know how that's the case but what I have learned from being on the First is that you don't lie. But it doesn't make sense; if what you say is true...why was I on Earth? Why go that far?"

Emet-Selch shrugs, settling back to think on this while Rhel moves from crystal check ups to drawing blood.

"I still refuse to believe your original home is simply named for an element," she mutters. "That'd be like naming our star "Air" or "Aether"."

Yua holds out her arm for Rhel, half expecting the blood drawing. "Honestly, it wouldn't surprise if there was a world out there with those names. It's possible with different and parallel worlds out there. Hells, I met versions of myself that were men."

Don't ask her how that works because all she knows is 'parallel worlds exist'.

"I doubt they're part of me otherwise one version is seriously messed up in the head when he admitted to another he had a bit of a crush on me." The tone in Yua's voice sounds disgusted at the memory.

Both Rhel and Emet-Selch look up at that.

"Yua, dear, I love you as a sister. So it is with the utmost affection and love that I point out that you are a bit touched so logically any other "you"s would be as well," Rhel says after a moment. "Still, that sounds incredibly egotistical, having affections for yourself."

"I might be a bit fucked up from my time in Liminal but I'm not that far gone. I do in fact draw a line." Yua replies back, staying quiet about her type because were they really going to talk about that?

"Besides, that idiot stole my first kiss. So I gave him a punch between the eyes as a result afterward."

"And not the dick?" Rhel hums. "I'm shocked. Hand, dear. I need to draw blood."

"Looking back on it, I wish I did." Yua answers, doing as she was told.

Were they having this talk with a man in the room? Yep.

Was the man in the room suddenly wishing he wasn't? Yep.

Is Rhel purposefully bringing up the weirder bits? Maybe.

"And this was before or after the 'pony' thing?"

"Different group. I wasn't with them but wow, that whole using friendship to beat up enemies sounds like a trip."

Yua's going along with it because it's true but also it's kind of funny to see the reaction of anyone who does not know what kind of adventures she has been on. Speaking of, she sure is watching for his reactions because it's funny watching the mostly composed of the ascians react to the most batshit.

"Now I have a question; what are we gonna do with our new 'friend'?"

Not even Emet-Selch knows what to make of this. What the fuck?

"For now? Keep him here surrounded by light-aspected crystals to minimize any chaos he might want to cause. That and drug him for pain. Krile is monitoring his aether to see just what the hells happened, since he's supposed to be dead with a hole the size of my torso in him."

"Considering it was me who made it and watched him..." Yeah, watched him die as Yua makes a gesture with her hand, grimacing weither it's in remembrance or the blood testing, one cannot be sure.

"Guess you're stuck with us for now."

[angeloftruth]

"Oh, wonderful," he retorts, though there's not much bite to it. "I get to spend Darkness knows how long in the company of insane women and my murderer."

Rhel huffs. "That's a terrible thing to call Krile, you know."

"Krile is a good woman who actually helped your sorry ass so it would be wise to show some appreciation."

Yua is in agreement but she can't argue with the murderer part because that is true.

"Or we could always see if there's any more hungry voidsent. Pretty sure an ascian is like a three course meal."

Emet-Selch scoffs, grumbling about how they know that wasn't who he was talking about. Rhel just ignores him.

"Perhaps if he were healthy. Right now he'd just make them sick."

"Now you're making me feel bad about the voidsent." Yua giggles. Emet might be with them but seeing him squirm is actually kind of funny. He probably did the same when they were in a sticky situation so it's only fair.

"Ok so after he heals up, what then? Do we trust Tataru with babysitting him?"

"Trust her? Yes, absolutely. Are we going to subject him to that? Probably not, no. He'd go murderous."

Yua's imagination gets the best of her because now she's starting to snicker at what the Scions' clerk can do to the man, mostly becoming her errand boy.

"Ok fair point and she's already been through enough hell as it is. So who's left that can handle him?"

Rhel, content that Yua isn't possessed, claps her on the shoulder.

"Thank you for volunteering, Yua."

"Huh?! Me? Are you sure that's safe?" Yua's voice squeaks a little, knowing how dangerous it can be sharing space with someone she cannot define.

"Well, it's either you, who've handled this sort of nonsense before." Rhel stands and starts to pack up her things. "Tataru, who'd drive him to murder. Krile, who...no. And myself, who certainly could handle an Ascian as weak as he is right now but would likely end up letting my ahriman use him as a chew toy. Beady gets so bored with crystals or the Gloom and an Ascian would be delightfully chewy for a bit."

"So I'm the only safe choice he has then?" Yua sighs and shakes her head. Just her luck. Given their history, it may take everything for them both to try and not harm each other in the process.

But in Yua's case...well, those feelings haven't gone away. The arrangement is asking for trouble but Rhel has a point: no one else can deal with the drama idiot.

"Alright yeah. I'll keep an eye on him."

"You're the only safe choice he has who isn't still holding something of a grudge," Rhel corrects. She still hasn't forgiven Emet-Selch for all the bullshit he pulled as Solus and as himself, after all, and while she can behave she can also just not do that. "Besides, he might try to turn me into a voidsent and we don't want that."

Emet-Selch hums. "Now there's an idea--"

"I have a soul stone, a grudge, and some new spells I'd love to test out," Rhel warns.

"Despite using my body as a ticking Light Bomb along with the mess that is the Garlean Empire?" Yeah it's hard to forgive someone like that.

"But I do live in Mist...and it is summer..." She addresses Emet as she speaks with a smirk.

"Aside from that, yes." But Rhel smirks at Yua's comment, and the two of them smirking is never a good thing. "It is! Have the crowds started yet?"

"Oh yes," Yua nods. "It's the usual pre-Moonfire Faire get togethers but once that starts, I am expecting the beach to have non stop celebrations. I wonder what will be planned for this year..."

Not counting the...time where she had to hold in the urge to punt the pervy lalafell owner of Costa del Sol into the sea.
